How to blow out an egg and keep it forever!

you get a pin, slowly and carefully insert it into the bottom of the egg, then a small one at the top, then blow through it...it can be tough getting the whites to pass through, you may get a headache!

This is the way I do it...someone else may have a different way...practice on a store bought egg first if you want.

I use a doll needle (nice and long) and scramble the egg in the shell with it. The contents come out much more easily if they're scrambled. You also want a reasonably-sized hole on one end for the egg to come out if you don't want to make yourself dizzy blowing (3/16" or so). I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to make egg Christmas ornaments and I happen to have a turkey baster with a needle end for injecting marinades. I'm going to try using that to suck the egg out of a very small hole.

I never blew my eggs out...I let them set for a very long time, eventually the egg whites would evaporate, yolk is a very hard rubbery ball, and I still have eggs that are over 7 years old and still on display.

Daughter broke one one day, and it didn't smell at all. No egg whites at all, yolk was a grey yellowish color, very hard and rubbery like those jack n ball play set. From then on, I never messed with it since then.

If you fear it ever exploding, which mine never did, put them in the refigerator for a couple of years, and take it out to "thaw". Wipe down the sweats and display them.

Somewhere I've seen a tool for blowing out eggs.. probably where they make those beautiful decorated eggs.

After you blow out the egg... does it smell? Do you have to rinse it with Chlorox or anything? Do you just shelac it?

I have been reading up on this and there are tons of videos on you tube showing you how to blow out an egg. I too plan on making Christmas ornaments with mine. I plan on decoupageing them with christmas tissue paper.
