My 2.5 week old chick had a hair hanging out of its mouth. After about 10 minutes (maybe not that long, but it felt like longer) of gently pulling on it, a hairball began to come out. There was resistance the entire time but once the main bulk of the hairball came out of her mouth, I couldn't get any more to budge. I cut off what was hanging out but I know there is still more caught in her throat or crop.

I've read the other feeds on here about making sure they have grit and using olive oil. I put olive oil on a small mealworm and had her eat that and they have been eating fine sand as grit for about a week now. There were several comments about making sure the hair wasn't caught on the tongue but how do you get a 2.5 week old chick to calm down enough to look in its mouth, let alone to put tools in its mouth if there is a hair? Is there anything else I can do?
