How to care for new babies with mama

I let my Momma out with the others after a couple days. The adults did a little pecking. But Momma let them have it. So now everything is fine.

Try them all together. Just be ready to separate if some one gets to ugly. lol

That is such a precious mama and ducklings Now I want some Calls.

How is it that ducklings drown in a small amount of water yet they don't in the wild

We don't know if ducklings drown in the wild I am sure some do. But again mama wild duck makes sure they are well oiled by having them under her before she takes them into any water and teaches them how to survive.

I tried letting the other adult female out with mama and babies. She did fine for about 5 minutes and was happy to be back out in the enclosure. Then she just went nuts and started attacking the babies! You know how when ducks get aggressive they shake a bit, she did that shaking thing and then just went after the group of them, attacking them. The mama didn’t do anything. But I was standing right outside the enclosure and got her up. I guess we need more time? Also the babies figured out how to get in the big pool. So I put bricks in it and made steps for them to get out. This is a lot of work watching over these babies! Lol.

What a precious picture. Sorry about the confrontation boy these girls can be testy, happens here too. Are all your ducks Calls? They are gorgeous.

Hopefully as the ducklings get to more adult size they will be more accepted.
