How To Catch A Thief

this is exciting, I can hardly wait remember mention it to no one else. Gee I hope the perp isn't anyone surfing BYC. I'm really upset about the heart shaped cakes, they sound delicious.

No camera yet.
On a different note I am 99% sure I know who the thief is. A few other things have now come to light. Pretty sure it is a co-worker.
Rather odd that a bottle of tea was found in the area they were working in.
A couple of us have been keeping this person away from the area of work and no more opened pops have shown up.
Tonight this person got a drink from the cooler and never paid for it. I know tomorrow they will give an excuse as to forgetting to pay, but I have found numerous empty pop bottles up at the till.
We are suppose to put our receipt on the item to prove we bought it.
I have also seen this person take stuff out of the hot deli, but have not seen them pay for it. They take it and head to the back of the store.
A till showed up short too.

once you get him/her on camera you shouldn't say a thing. Just post a couple 8 x 10 photos on the wall for all to see.
Boy that makes me mad and it isn't even my pop.

Co-worker finally paid for their drink yesterday, but I am still wondering if they paid for everything they have taken.
The clerk at the till said that they paid for both drinks and a donut, but I had seen this person take a deli sandwich too.
I just happened to be standing in that area when I saw them take it and head to the back.

Years ago we had someone stealing sandwiches from the office fridge. One of the ladies put a note on her sandwich saying "I spit on this sandwich." The thief left a note that said "so did I."
We had a flower fund that we all contributed to every pay day. When an employee finally died, there was no money in the fund. Nobody knew anything about where the money had gone.
We also had a coffee fund. Everybody was supposed to put a dime in the can when they had a cup of coffee. The money disappeared regularly, and we were always out of coffee. One morning someone came in early and caught the culprit. It was one of the supervisors; nothing was done about the problems.
As long as the thief leaves employee stuff alone, it is up to management to catch the culprit and deal with the situation. They may just choose to ignore it.

One night my FIL seen some young kids (16-19 years old) walking up around midnight so he opened the door and scared them. They claimed that they were out of gas so my FIL being a nice guy gave them some gas. The next day he had the gas can on the front steps with the rest of the gas still in it in the middle of the day. My MIL happened to look over and caught a view of someone running up and grabbing the can before it switched to the next camera view. My FIL looked out the door real quick but we couldn't see the car good enough. We did call the police and knew most likely who did it since they are known thieves. Since we didn't have a good enough view, the camera didn't have a recording feature, and it was hard to tell the car color they didn't get caught. The police officer did investigate for a week around here asking different people about stuff. That surprised me. Since then my MIL bought a new system that records.
A few months go by and my FIL with another guy were out in the field fixing fence posts. He had his chainsaw with him to cut some of the posts. He sat the chainsaw on a post about 10 feet from the road and went about 50 feet down the fence to fix a spot. A car drove by and someone jumped out and grabbed it before he even knew it. We figured it was probably the same kids since they go up and down that road often. They don't mind doing stuff during the day with people nearby. They steal the stuff for drug money. We didn't have any evidence to go with so we didn't report it in. My FIL did tell locals around that buy and sell stuff like that to keep and eye out incase they bring his in. He had his name scratched on it in a certain spot.
This summer I had a 10 point deer head hanging outside for few years from where I hit it with a car. It still had skin on it so we decided to soak it off so I could have the head to hang in our new house. Well he had it sitting outside in a bucket with a water filed bleach container sitting on it to hold it down in the water. The bucket was in front of the milk house around 100 feet off the road. My FIL asked me if I touched it and I said no and he said he hasn't seen it in a few days. He thought maybe a dog got it but the bucket was still upright and the bleach container had been sat back into the water. Then he got thinking some of the young cousins were over and got some other bones from him and he thought maybe they grabbed it not knowing we were keeping it. He found out later they didn't take it. I tried to view the camera videos but since we haven't had it to long I didn't know how to work it. I couldn't find the manual either. I also wasn't sure by that point if it would still have the video and not have recorded over it. I had seen a truck earlier in the week park over at the barn for a quick minute which isn't unusual for around here. My FIL knows a ton of people that always stops by. Well I seen a truck that looks just like it in front of the house that the thieves lived in. It was their dad's truck. The parent's steal stuff also.

The worse thing is knowing the items were most likely stolen to be sold for drug money. When we get moved out I'm definitely setting up a camera system and having locks on all the doors. I'll be making sure I know how to use the system also.
I would definitely borrow a deer camera or set up a hidden webcam.
