I wish I could take him, he is adorible and has such a sweet face.

I would have to agree with the coloring on that. Is a bit leggy for a BC though, and the muzzle looks a little boxy to me? Does he have a tail? Does it have the white tip on the tail? I think he is very cute. He is as smart as a border collie for sure with not going in the trap. BC's are exteremely intelligent especially if from working stock.
And alot of border collies are very standoffish. And he may be looking so leggy from not getting the nourishment he needed as a little pup, so he could be pure and just looking so bad because of his beginnings. I have a soft spot for the little buggers. I own three of them. Good luck with him. If he ever comes around for you, he'll probably be the best dog you ever had.

We rescued a dog like that from death... the people said he was a border collie cross. Which would make him a cattle dog. And they are wonderful pets. I loved Max. He was wonderful and only barked at the scary things in the yard. He was wonderful and very smart.

You should keep him as he was a very economical eater as well as a great pet.

Isn't that a Boykin Spaniel - the state dog of South Carolina?

Just kidding. He's one cute pup. Take your time and he'll come around eventually. It's in his nature to socialize and running from you goes against every instinct he has - except the one for survival.

He'll come around.

Thanks for doing this.

He looks like he may have some Lab in him because of the square muzzle. Please be careful not to get bit. My guess he was born in the woods and mom and siblings are long gone. He is awful young looking to have been abandoned as a pup. I think some "person" threw mom out when she was pregnant. When he does come around you will have to really work on socializing him if you ever want him to be good with other people. Good luck and please keep us posted. He is a very lucky little guy to have wandered into your yard.
