I have a one week old chick thats in shock. i was holding her and she thought she could make it form my hands to the brooder but missed and ended up landing on the floor. it was a 4 foot drop...I don't think anything is broken but im concerned for her. she stands in the corner and doesn't take any interest in water or food. when i move her to the other side of the brooder, she slowly walks (no wobble or limp) back to the corner and just stands there, slowly falling asleep.
.
is this normal? and is there anyway I can help comfort her? shes under an infrared light at the moment.
.
.
all suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Jumping from high heights can unfortunately lead to internal damage without any signs of broken bones or scratches. Keep her warm and comfortable, offer her luke-warm water with electrolytes in it. Hopefully she will heal up. Be very gentle with her.

I hope she gets better soon. Best of luck!

Would it be wise to take her to the vet?? Or should I wait it out?

Wait it out. There is very little a vet would be able to do for a very young, small chick. The good news is that they seem to be made of rubber in the first few weeks. Chickens have amazing healing abilities. Keep her warm and comfortable and keep things quiet and the light level dim. Electrolytes are good, or you could use something called Nutri-drench.

Vets can be expensive, but if you are really worried about her, an avian vet is certainly the best choice.
We don't have enough money to take our birds to the vet unfortunately.
