How to compost?

In addition to what was said above, the "texture" of the materials matters to. In other words, fresh manure and freshly fallen Live Oak leaves would not make good bed fellows. Chopped and aged, they would be ok. Alternately, Maple or Pecan leaves are fine, and break down fast. They would be a good companion for the manure.

There is a similar problem with fresh pine bedding. A partial solution is to use fine bedding that was used in the deep bedding method. Another would be to use chopped straw as bedding.
