How to count the hatching days

I understand the confusion, but too me it was never that important. Once one egg pipped, they all hatch within the next 24 hours. often it only takes 12-18 hours really. But, I will tell you how my Brinsea Mini Advanced computer does it, and maybe this will help you understand . Once I set the eggs in the Mini Advanced incubator, the digital day counter starts at 21 days. it stays at 21 days for a full 24 hours, then goes down to day 20 , and stays there for 24 hours. And so on... It counts backwards, but the concept is, the day start the time you set the eggs in the incubator and the day is 24 hours. So for your example, your day number 2 would start Thursday night. I hope this helps.

The day you set eggs is Day "0"
That said the hatch may start early if the temperature in the incubator is a bit higher and take a bit longer if the eggs were collected over long period of time.
Interestingly after setting some eggs under a hen and some in the incubator I still marvel at the hen, all 10 eggs hatched on Day 21 within 6 hour period. 42 Eggs in the incubator under fairly optimal conditions, took 24 hours to complete hatch.

when I hatch under my broody same thing 100% hatch rate all with in a few hours. I have 18 eggs in an incubator and 2 hatched day 20, 3 hatched in the middle of the night 5 have hatched thru day 21, 1 passed away. the other 7 6 of them are externally pipped and wiggling and the last one egg is not moving. I love being able to watch them but it is so much easier to let a broody do all the work!!
I am at 26 hours now and still going. I hope they speed up!!

Wow, thats a long time. Good luck !!

I am 36 hours in and still have 4 chirping eggs to go. It is driving me crazy!!!

Maybe blast some loud rock music in the incubator. lol.. I'm pulling for ya !! This will be the longest hatch I have seen, I'm hoping it all turns out well for you and the chicks !!

I came home last night and found 1 chick in my bator! Good I thought. Woke up this am and still nothing else. 1 chick hatched healthy and on its own so I assumed temp/ humidity was great he popped right out no problem. The last candle before lockdown all eggs looked great and I rid of the ones that did not grow. But I have at least 15 more that still have not hatched!! It is now 15 hours later!I left the little guy in there but he's running all around and moving the eggs around! Little worried. Am I going to have a whole batch of eggs that are not going to hatch?? Seems like time is not in their favor!

I hope not, but unfortunately I have had this exact thing happen to me. 14 eggs, one hatch and they all candled to full growth. I can't explain it. Keep us posted, Good Luck !!

Oh no! Good luck! Maybe that little guy just had to come out early. I bet once you hit the 24 hr mark, you'll start getting pips!

46 hours and they are finally all hatched. 18 eggs 15 hatched without problems 1 assisted hatch went bad and the chick did not survive, 1 assisted hatch went well and the chick is with the rest and the 3 rd assisted hatch is still touch and go. I put it back in the incubator to fluff up and get stable on the feet!
