I have turned into a detective, looks like the feed wasn't processed and ground up correctly, found bits and pieces of hole ingredients, I think the powder is flour or something. That's what I found just picking on the top for 15 seconds.Did it look anything like that? And don't worry about the health affects part of the chart, since were talking about chickensGood luck, I hope it isn't mold!
Thank you this was really helpful, doesn't smell like medicine, I knew it was old because I was feeding my chickens a higher protein feed for a month and it sat in the barn for a month before that while I was using the same layer feed, the barn also stays way cooler that outside. I will keep an eye on the chickens though. Thank you!Your feed is 4 months old.
If it smells good and chickens are eating it. I'd continue to feed.
If you notice a drastic drop in egg production, smell the feed.
A strong medicine like smell indicates feeds gone bad.
Check mill date on next purchase. Try to buy within 2 months and use within 2 months if kept at room temperature. Use within 3 weeks if kept outside in hot humid or cool damp weather.
I had feed go bad 5 months past mill date, stored in a spare room in my house. GC
