OK so we bought some chicks and put them under our broody and she accepted them perfectly which was brilliant but we noticed one chick has a problem with its foot , we dont want to make it worse in splinting it wrong . it sort of flaps about and it looks like its having spasms in its leg, it's out to one side and a bit curled under and it cant put any weight on it . we have had chicks before but are not experts and dont want to do anything wrong can someone please help soon as it is already 2 days old i dont want to leave it too late :(xx

I'm not sure it this is problem...but we have hatched chicks and sometimes one or two will have trouble walking because they were taken out of the bator too soon. They have trouble walking with one and sometimes both feet. Their feet kind of curl up and they can't walk except for on their knees. So, this is what I do...I take a band aid and cut out the padded part. I put the first sticky part on the bottom of the foot, with the foot naturally spread out. Then I take the second sticky piece and place it over the top of their foot to hold it in place. I leave it on their foot for about a day or two. This usually helps, if this is the problem. I can't tell from the pictures if there is a problem with the joint. But if it's just from being taken out too soon, this should help.
