How to fix this problem?

Try placing a box on top of the nest box for a few nights. They will see that they cannot fly/jump there and find other accomodations. I had a similar problem with them roosting on a utility shelf in the coop. I just put a box in the way and problem was solved.

Good ideas. I will try them before I drop the nest box. I really don't want to go cutting into the coop to drop it.

To hot to lock them in it has been 100 degrees here.

Well I watched last night from the kitchen window to see just how these little ungrateful smarties are getting on top of the nest box.
3 of them are going halfway up the ramp and flying over to it. 1 is doing a wild super mario 64 wall kick off the run door.
The big door shown open in the pic is normally closed. I use it to fill the food and water and for clean out.
So last night after seeing just how they are getting up there I opened the nest box figuring no way to roost if it is open they have to go inside......Wrong.... They landed on the edge and went to the roof.

Now I will be adding a bit of wire to block that little trick.

I have windows on the south, east and west end with a pop door on the north so I don't think it can be a heat issue. The coop is in full shade after 5 pm and has lots of air movement.

Perhaps I need to put Pam on it lol.

Maybe this pic shows the roost placement better.

The roost is level with the bottom of the window. I did not know they would go to wherever was higher even if it was outside. (If that is what the issue really is)
