I tried it with a plastic bag...which lasted for about two seconds before it was shredded. I also tried a plastic feed bag and that was too rigid to not strangle your chicken while trying to dust it. So I think those bags that you can buy at the grocery store...the reusable grocery bags, they will be perfect! I will be trying this soon with a broody hen that I will be moving to a brand new coop. I want to make sure she is 100% free of mites before I transfer her.
