Since geese are so highly protective of their mates & eggs, how do you go about gathering eggs? Do you sneak up on the nest when they aren't around or what?

It depends on the goose. And if they are broody or not.
One of my geese, when broody, I am almost afraid of.

I distract her by blocking her vision with a treat bowl in one hand as I reach under her with the other.

The others just honk softy and sadly at me and make me feel really guilty as I take their eggs.

Of course if they are not wanting to set the nest, I just gather them up daily.

That is what mine do. last year, one of my hens kept moving her nest all around the pen. I felt bad that I kept taking her eggs.

Yeah I do.

They stand half way up, look between their legs and say "boook-boook?"

We basically have to sneak a hand in there or roll them out with a stick; we usually have 2-5 geese on a nest, so there gets up to 40 eggs at sometimes, but they never ever hatch any
