How to get a family to understand.

O My goodness! I am so sorry! If your surgery was just in June, and then the same thing just two moths later? It sounds like your body has undergone severe trauma in a short time, ywo months is not long. Have you been taking it easy? like REALLY easy? maybe you should be on bed rest until this gets claered up? Wow, I have no idea, I'm so sorry

I hope you find some answers for your chronic pain. My DH goes through a lot of flair ups with his arthritis pain. I was getting frustrated with his complaining of pain and swelling that he would get. There's not much I can do but be there for him. I'm starting to understand "pain". But it's not the same as when you actually experience it constantly like that.

For everything you've gone through, maybe this is it and you can heal and gain your strength back. You've got an advantage with your age!

You have a large BYC family here and we're thinking of you.

I think the idea of finding a pain specialist is good.

I also think that there is more going on than has been diagnosed. You need a second opinion from someone unaffiliated with those who have already performed procedures on you. I think the emergency surgeries are treating symptoms, rather than causes, and I also think you need to see a doctor at the first sign of anything being wrong, not wait until the pain is unbearable.

Various sorts of tests would have indicated that your intestine was blocked or herniated, and have saved you from some of the torment. They would also indicate if things are healing properly.

I don't think you need a pain specialist. Pain specialists help with chronic pain such as what you get with a bad back or arthritis. It sounds like your pain is sounding an alarm, and a serious one at that, because something is very wrong in your innards. I am sure that is not news to you. If you PM or email me I can give you the name of a surgeon who was one of the pioneers in gastric bypass surgery. It might be a good idea if your doctors could consult with him over the phone. It couldn't hurt.

my friend had the gastric bypass and had nothing but troubles . she was sick for several months and her incision wouldn't heal.. turned out her whole body was infected and they put shunt? to give her antibiotics into her shoulder breast area.. she had to have the surgery done a second time because of some blockage.. she was in severe pain as you.. it has been 20 months now and she has completely recovered.. it took alot of trial and error on the doctors and surgeons to get it right but she is glad she did it. even with all the pain and trouble it caused. she now feels great and down 260 lbs.. i hope you don't lose hope .. there is always tomorrow that might be the day you feel great.. please hang in there.. i think most people don't understand because they are scared of losing you and can't deal with it so they downplay your pain. i wish you lots of hope and prayers. and try to remember why you had the surgery . it was so you could live. god bless you

There are days I regret having the gastric by pass in the first place. But the more I think about it, I realize that if I had it to do all over again I would still go through with it. I have lost over 200lbs that is an entire person gone.... I just wish I could have been one of those cases that have no complications. But unfortunately when they tell you about the risks and possible complications they are talking about people like me. If my battle of pain and complications teaches my surgeon something so that someone else doesn't have to endure the suffering I have, well then my job is done.

I'm sorry you are going through this, I have problems with constant pain from a few car accidents and some fibromyalgia(sp) stuff. I'm sure no where close to yours though. I know my family did not always understand how much pain I was in, but I knew they were afraid for me and wanted me to get better. I am going through the process of Banding and I am sometimes afraid of the risks, but know I will do it anyway. I pray for your body to heal and peace for you and your family.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this, but please don't give up! I have chronic pain and it could make you jump off a bridge. I dealt with it for years and one day snapped! I couldn't bare it anymore. i went to pain management and didn'twant "pills" They did Luner blocker shots and they saved my life. Not cortizone but a bunch of shots(4) in my lumbars. It worked!! They gave me tramadol as needed and i like them. they don'tmake me feel high. I have kids so i can not feel like that! My pain was in the hip and back. Please look into it! Google it, what ever but please don't give up~ Your my age, way to young!
