How to get golden yolks instead of yellow yolk?

Hi,

I would like to know how you can raise the laying hens so that it can lay golden yolks instead of yellow yolks like the one in super market.

What does one need to do in order to have golden yolks? Etc.

Please share you thought and experience.

My laying hen are about 14 weeks old now, and I am feed them with “Purina Start & Grow” http://poultry.purinamills.com/OURPRODUCTS/Products/StartGrow/default.aspx and alternate with “Scratch and Peck Feeds” http://www.scratchandpeck.com/products/sfgrower in between.

Greens are the key to orange yolks. Being able to forage and eat lots of plant material will do it. Alternately, if they are penned, try feeding them leafy greens. Not lettuce, since it doesn't contain much of nutritional value, but spinach, kale, collards, chard....the yolks will be lovely and healthy in no time.

Thank you for your responded. I didn't realized that just green plant will create orange yolks. Will certainly do that going forward. No wonder, every time I let my chicks (14 wks old) out for free ranging about 2 hrs each day, the first thing did were to eat grass nearby the door.
