How to get hens into the coop

I have 15 total. Yes the coop will hold 20. The picture does not do it justice

No offense, but what are the measurements? That surely is not big enough to provide 4 sq ft per bird x 20 (80 sq ft).

The lack of light and ventilation (I assume that's under the roof overhangs?) is making it very unappealing to the birds right now, plus it's new to them, so it's scary. I'd get the roof done so you can take the tarp off, add some windows for light at the very least, and then just manually put them in at night until they get the clue.

Yes, dimensions please.
Ventilation could be great by opening up the monitor cupola sides properly.
It looks cool but not functional.

Oh, and... Welcome to BYC! @Ttabor33

Have you tried throwing a bit of food into the bedding? And do you know who’s your alpha hen? If you can get her to accept the new coop, others will follow.

But they won’t want to spend time in a dark, stuffy box. You might be asking too much to have them feel comfortable until you provide some light and air.

Are they laying yet? Outside? Might want to place a few wooden eggs or golf balls in the nest boxes.

Good luck! Sometimes you just have to think like a chicken :D
