Some of my pullets are starting to lay eggs. I am getting about 2 eggs per day of out my 8 pullets. But they are not laying in the nest but everywhere else. They especially love to lay in my 5 gallon buckets laying around in the yard. What can i do. Also will they stop laying soon since its shorter day light time?

Do you put them in a coop with the nesting boxes at night? try keeping them in longer than usual, and put golfballs in the nest box. it worked great for mine. after the first batch of misplaced eggs (i found them all at once) there has only been one random drop... all others go right in the nest box.

When my pullets first started laying, I just put each of them in the nest boxes so that they could get used to them and know that they're there for laying eggs in. It worked! I hope this trick works for you.

My ladies mostly lay in the nesting boxes but I sometimes find an egg on the floor. The eggs are never broken, do you think the eggs fall out of the nesting box? The eggs are near enough to have fallen. I have 5 hens and 4 nesting boxes, but they usually lay in the same one.
