i have a lovely flock of ducks I adore. I even have a drake who makes my day.

However, I have one mean drake, who scares everyone. Not just excessive mating, just mean. Bullying, pushes away my girls from food, etc.

I currently have 3 girls, 2 drakes, and 5 (soon to be 8) duckling girls in my brooder. Maybe more girls will help, but I’m actually worried about keeping him around when they are old enough to go out.

I have ads on Craigslist, rescueme.org, no interest.

I have thought of taking him to a rescue shelter that has a small barn program, but they have no other ducks, so his life might be pretty miserable there.

I don’t believe my vet would euthanize an otherwise healthy duck. I’m at a loss.

My husband has offered to shoot him, but I think he would have a hard time doing so, as would I. But it might be better for the drake than being caged up alone in a rescue shelter with no company. (They have a lot of Roosters that have been there for some time.)

I’ve had this drake for 3 years and it’s always been a huge source of stress.

Any thoughts? god bless

I’m not sure what that is..axing his head off? Sorry, really never heard of cervical dislocation.
the hatchet method is off with his head, i kinda just ran straight into another method. cervical dislocation is an easy to dispatch chickens involving snapping the neck with a broomstick, but as casportpony said it is hard with a larger fowl like a duck.
