We have them around our backyard and can see them out in early evenings starting to do their stuff -- fun to watch, and good at eating those bugs!

On the other had, you should keep in mind that they are also pretty common carrier of rabies, so keep any pets (mammals) around your place vaccinated, and stay away from any you see on the ground and/or out during the day.

I think it would be next to impossible to keep bats out of a barn. Bats have been dying off in large numbers just like the bees. Bee glad you have bats.

I dont want to kill them, I just was worried about the droppings. I am going to try and seal of the area above the chickens, but they can have the rest of the barn. As far as them being insect controll...we get eaten alive when we spend any time outside. Apparently my bats are on strike...
