How to get rid of roosters?

sell him ,eat him ,put him on craigslist or just save him to build your flow but be sure to have another pin to put all roo in to this you wont have to many roo per hen

I read through this stuff seeing the same old concepts thoroughly reprocessed. Options not covered can include developing a relationship with parties that prefer eating old roosters. A co-worker from Tanzania is partial to adult free-range birds. In cooking, they impart more flavor into other components of the meal. When I free-range roosters as part of the flock the sex ratio is one rooster for every 4 to 6 hens. I am not out to make a profit, rather the ratio seems to promote better dispersion of flock and losses to hawks is essentially nil.

Another less correct method for dealing with excess male chickens is to drop them off for permanent free-range time at the local McDonald's parking lot.

.... what do people usually do [with unwanted roosters]... Somebody help me please!

Well there's fried chicken, roast chicken, chicken & dressing, baked chicken, chicken soup, chicken & dumplings, General Tso's chicken, chicken & rice, chicken Parmesan, chicken fricassee, and so on and so on.

From the group I was just gifted, I think I will have 3 roos. I may keep the best for breeding if I like EEers . There are 3 sawmills that employ a Hispanic population that will pay $5 for fresh roos. Thinking that's how I will approach it if I ever get into breeding.

In the dim, dark age, of chicken husbandry young roosters were marketed as
"Spring Chickens" A Spring Chicken is a male chicken under 1 year old.

The chicken farmers of yore segregated their flock into pullets and cockerels and once the pullets started laying the chicken farmer sold their old hens to be slaughtered and sold their cockerels to the local butcher shops or grocery stores. You could even buy a live Spring Chicken and all the fixings at the same mom and pop grocery store. The up side of all this is that Spring Chickens didn't require refrigeration.
