How to handle with person selling sick birds *RESULTS IN *

I would take the dead bird in to the state lab To DAY and get it autopsied. It is free. It will also bolster your case in the even this ends up in small claims court, which it definitely would if it were me. Even without you saying who it is, I can only be about 99% sure I already know who you are talking about. Walks like a sick peafowl, gurgles like a sick peafowl, most likely it IS (was) a sick pea fowl. If it is the person I think it is, she is well known for NOT standing behind her product if it is sick or dies. Birds come and go from there like grand central and no way to know where it came from or how long she had it. She does NOT treat her birds ever, for respiratory problems. Live or die is her motto.

my friend is calling the BBB. And went to get papers to file a complaint. Now what do i do with the other one , its alive.. For now. I dont want it anywhere near my flock. I think this sellers ethics suck. Shame on her. Shame. took advantage of my friend knowing who is still learning. I also love her telling my friend I know nothing. Quess she doesnt belive in worming her birds. Good to know... because I do.

Sorry to hear about your birds...

I normally give 15 to 20 days on birds I sell... Youd be supprised on how they are kept and treated at there new home. I have been sold sick birds in the past and ive even bought birds that were dammaged under one impression but turns out they were dammanged in beyond there stated discription... Go figure.. anything to unload a dead bird I guess...

Id file a complaint and post it on the forum..

Its not cool to loose money on the bird... Breeders should be willing to work with you on your new stock. Im currently treating 4 IB hens with Baytril because one of the hens in the pen had her eyes shut with crust and I did not want to take any chances with breeding season around the corner.

We have had temp fluctuations and I belive they are getting a cold. Some nights its 45 and in the day its 80 degrees. We just stabalized this week on temps and the birds are starting to recover.

Best of luck

She may very well have knowingly sold you a sick bird but, Just to play devils advocate (because there are 3 sides to every story) & this is how a court will look at it. If the seller fallows strict biohazard rules, they will never let you bring that bird back on their property. It could of gotten blackhead or any other disease from the buyers premises. Peafowl are susceptible to things that your chickens are immune to, or carriers of. If you suspected the bird was sick while you were buying it, Why did you buy it? ....We all make mistakes. I brought home 1 sick chick once, that killed a brooder of 200..... You gained experience & knowledge from this. So it wasn't a total loss.....Peace Out!

I knew it was sick when it was shown to me. I did not buy it my friend did. She is new to birds and when she asked why it was making the girgle noise the seller said it was because she pushed on the bird when she put it in the bag and they all do that. my friend trusted the seller. When my friend today told the seller she trusted the seller the seller then said well you shouldnt have. enough said. She saw my friend as someone who didnt know and took advantage and gave her a sick bird. Heck she got 200.00 for something that would be dead in her yard right now..

My Biohazard rules... dont really apply to sickness because I have a quarentine station... my biohazard rules are so that people dont know where I live and try to steal from me... My collection is Vast and very expensive. On the buying the sick bird... i think she was misled to belive it was a normal stress situation..

Raise H*ll!!!

She was nasty, wont refund even for the live bird. She knowsn darn well with incubation of a illness no way it was done anyplace else. She KNOWS it was sick , she didn't allow my friend to pick the bird she brings them to you. You don't get a choice. I was not there otherwise I would have told her no way. My friend is a sweetie , thinks all people are good. When she asked why it made the girdle noise , my friend was told that it was because she pushed on it. Told her they all do that. My friend trusted the seller, which the sellers reply well you shouldn't have. To me that means she knew and has 200.00 cash and made money off. Dying birds. So my friend has filed a complaint , also contacted the city who is very interested in this. Because at this point we dont know what illness the birds had. Both birds have been taking to the lab for testing. I advice anyone in Norco to be extra careful when buying any birds.

also.. post on other forums under "Dealers - the good bad and ugly". but you have to put the correct info so that is someone googles her, it will pop up... thats what I did... and my point came across.. Its funny, in all my online sales, ive only once recived a dead bird and a crippled bird.

How can people sleep at night and have a clear conscious doing evil things like this. That really ticks me off. So sorry that you all are going thru this.
