How to hens go broody? (Sp?)

I've never had a hen go broody. Unfortunately mine LOVE to eat eggs. So unless I get them to lay in the boxes and collect daily, they eat them. No matter how much feed, oyster shell, vitamins, ect. They follow me like I have treats when I have an egg in my hand.
So my question is, because of this will I ever be able to get a broody hen or have her hatch a clutch out?

Whether or not a hen goes broody depends on a lot of things.

If you have high production breeds there is little chance of getting a broody.

My two that are laying right now is a leghorn and one that I think is a ameraucana
I have 6 pullets due to lay any day now. I'm praying they lay in the boxes because I'll never know if they lay or not

I am absolutely going to try all of these out I think my pullets have inherited the egg eating. I caught them eating an egg laid outside the boxes last week

We had to get rid of our egg eaters once they start they usually don’t stop. Our hens were older that were doing that

Yeah I would be breaking that egg eating.
Be sure to gather eggs at least once a day.
There are good tips on the link that was posted above.

I would also recommend looking at rollout nest boxes in case the egg eater is not able to be broken.

We had to get rid of our egg eaters once they start they usually don’t stop. Our hens were older that were doing that

It was my fault they started. We had a bad winter and the eggs often just froze solid so I threw them on the ground in their pen once in a while. I didn't want to leave them outside the pen to attract predators.
And now my toddler likes to crack them and give it to them. He always tells me the hens are hungry so they need the eggs they beg like dogs
