Just hold Chuck LOTS, it's great if he'll sleep in your pockets, shoulder, lap, etc. Our house chicken Taco Belle, slept for a few years right on my son's pillow with him. She has also slept in an open top drawer of a chest as well as a bathtub that we topped off with a window screen tee pee.

Right now her home is a large clear plastic crate, long and rectangular. She's about 6 feet away from me. She had recently taken to sleeping on my puffy ergonomic wrist saver right here next to my keyboard but I re-established authority over that domaine recently.

House chickens are great and once they really get to know their outdoor buddies reintroductions everyday are uneventful, it's like "oh your back!".

I haven't yet had a problem with any of my three dogs, just go slow.

leenie, do u just have one house chicken? and if so, how does she feel about being the only one? cuz i'm still entertaining the thought of having 2 house chickens mainly cuz i want a silkie as well as a showgirl. chuck would be the showgirl. but i want a silkie too.....but i'm afraid to put only ONE silkie outside with 4 standard girls. but then again, if i have 2 house chickens, i worry they would be 2 roos. i bet that wouldn't go over too well. maybe this is something i just need to play by ear. also, what did u do about the poop? did she poop on your son's pillow? i have a couple diapers waiting....but i'd like to NOT use them if there's another way.
hnbubz.....othello is absolutely adorable!!!!!! PLEASE keep us posted as he/she grows! how sweet! chuck is in the incubator with 8 other eggs. i have no idea which egg chuck will be. i would write his name on a chosen egg....but what if that egg never hatched? then i would have to choose another chuck! lol! chuck is only on day 2 (seven hours shy of day 3)......i can't wait to see him/her!

We have only one house chicken and I would add she likes it that way but then again it's the only way she knows. We found her under a bridge in the dead of winter and she became our pet. She never poops once she goes to bed on the pillow but when she's in the dresser drawer we put a towel underneath her. She can go for hours w/o pooping but these days she's getting older (7ish)and she's a bit more regular but that's what our dog is for. Banty poops are way different than LF poops!

We got chicks this past summer and she was all bent out of shape for quite a while because of it. Quite a personality this one, she stomps her feet at us if we aren't paying enough attention to her.
