How to house a house chicken

wow, i need to take a break from the computer! i've been looking up names! i like unusual names for boys or for a roo that COULD be a hen! i like Pox by the way. that may be an option for me. i also found the following that i may consider:

Selig
Foozle
Griffin
Bogumil
Boris
Grendil

but i think Grendil sounds too girly maybe. i'll be thinking of names for the next 21 frickin' days! knowing me, i'll change my mind a thousand times!

name picking is hard for me cuz there's so many cute ones!

haha! i agree, and you always have to find the perfect name so it fits your baby perfectly! i was thinking about griffin too before. i think its a really cute name

A kennel would probably work fine as a house for a house chicken. That said, for a period of time I had a silkie roo be somewhat of a "house" chicken when the rest of the flock was decimated by predators. Long story short, I grew up a bunch of new hens and when they matured, eventually the "house chicken" didn't want to come back into the house and started spending his days and nights with the big girls outside. Boy it was funny seeing his 2lb banty self rule over 4-5lb standard sized sexlinks.

that's a funny story! yeah, u never know! i plan on having mine out every day with his/her friends. but i was thinking along the same lines....a little dog crate for him/her to sleep in.....beside my bed of course! lol. there's a lady on youtube that has 2 house chickens. a roo names Philip and a hen named Suzie. i think this lady is called Chickenmom. look her up. she has a lot of vids. she also teaches u how to make diapers. oh...and back to the names.....Griffin is a serious possibility.....i just keep thinking of that name!

yeah i started out with one pet chicken then i got two hens, then another two, then i hatched some, then i hatched some more and now i have eleven chickens. im so addicted

that's funny! the rabbit cage idea is good....cuz of the sliding pan thingy.....i'm going to petsmart tonight to buy a hygrometer of some sort....i'll look around at cages too....not that he/she will be in it much....but he's gotta have a room....just like any kid

Might want to try the feed store for a cage. I know in this area at least, a 800 series kennel at the pet store is about 140 bucks for the store brand, while the same size of kennel at the feed store is about 90! A "fish tank light timer" is 9.99 at the pet store, while the same thing if not better can be found for 8 bucks at home depot.. of course, the home depot one doesn't have a fish shape for a timer dial... but is it really that important? Just a thought.
