How to improve my Lavenders?

I have lavender Ameraucanas, and need advice on working with this color. What are you working on with your lavenders? Have you bred out the "straw tinge" in the color? How about the "raggy tails"?

The rooster above is my smaller Lav rooster (I don't have pics of my large Lav yet).

I have to wonder if yellow chick down on lavender chicks indictes that they will have straw coloring as adults- any thoughts?

Have you bred for nice tail feathers on the roosters? How did you get there?

Also- do you notice a yellowing effect from the sun, and from types of feed?

I read that it is only the males that have the raggy tails and yellow tinge... is this true? I myself have not seen a hen or pullet with them.

Some years back I bred Self-Blue Old English Game Bantams. The birds I started with had good colour & type but poor feather quality. I used some Black OEGBs to successfully improve the feather quality.
