Oh ya and prying it open with a shovel isn't ideal.I had forgotten chicken coops could freeze shut…![]()
My south-facing door was frozen tooGiven my luck I'd break the shovel. This is why the door to my coop out at the farm faces south. I remember living out there in high school and having to go out the back door because the front door was on the north side of the house and froze shut during an ice storm!
I well remember my happy dance when I passed my licensing exam - of course it was an ungainly dance since I was 8 months pregnant at the time!My reaction was a bit more tearful than that. I literally ugly cried in the parking lot of the testing center when my husband checked my results and told me I passed. But today I could dance and scream from the rooftops!![]()
I rescheduled my exam for today so I didn't have to postpone it for another week. My nerves could not have handled that. I was barely sleeping and driving myself crazy with worry. The prayers did their thing for sure because I PASSED!!!!
I am officially a Nurse Practitioner!

Warm compresses and massage may help, but you probably need to be seen by your PCP or ophthalmologist. If it is draining, especially if the drainage is purulent (green/yellow, crusting), you will likely need an antibiotic. If there is infection, you don't want it spreading, especially to the globe of your eye. If you start experiencing pain with eye movements or swelling of your eye lid or the tissue around your eye, get in to see your PCP quickly, or go to urgent care. Praying your eye feels better soon!Well, newly-minted NP @KF0002, maybe I can be your first unofficial patient. No biggie. I seem to have a blocked tear duct and my left eye has been draining like there's no tomorrow. It's starting to itch and burn a bit, probably from my ever-so-gentle but constant dabbing at it with a tissue. I've also been massaging the tear duct with a cotton ball to try to open it up. Do you recommend a warm compress?
What licensing exam did you take? Are you an NP too? Taking any lengthy exam while 8 months pregnant was no easy feat, I imagine! Having to sit there with a near-term baby bouncing on your bladder sounds less than pleasant! lol That is impressive! And the happy dance afterwards I'm sure was adorable!I well remember my happy dance when I passed my licensing exam - of course it was an ungainly dance since I was 8 months pregnant at the time!
Thank you, friend! I feel like an enormous weight has been lifted off my shoulders!

I'm so happy too! And I am so very grateful and humbled for the outpouring of prayer and support from my wonderful chicken friends on BYC. You all are my people!I can imagine it so vividly. I'm so happy you passed!
