I would mix the low grade with the special.
About a 10% ratio of the low until its gone.

I used to do that. The wild birds attracted hawks. The birds wound eat my feed and poop in my waterers. Wild birds bring mites and viruses. The hawks would perch just along the fence and make kills in my yard. It’s been 2 years of not feeding now. The number of wild birds has deminshed but still a problem for meI'm not a scratch fan. To get rid of it, I would just feed it to the wild birds in a feeder Or to the squirrels.....
Wild birds can also bring diseases and pests to your flock as well. I try not to encourage them to hang around. Though my outdoor mouser helps see to that.I used to do that. Wow...ground beef? Mine don’t eat it. Peas? Nope.
Mine like fish & chicken with wild rice.On BBQ night I grill an extra breast for them. They especially like them marinated in sweet & sour. I’m pathetic
My husband is like yours. He didn’t show much interest at first. Now he pouts if I take treats out without him. His favorite (she loves him) is my RSL...what a goof! She comes running and crying when he comes out...adorable both of them.
Could you cook up some peas and mash them and mix the scratch in? That will help prevent them from picking it out.The first time I gave them meat, I thought they were going to attack! They were so excited. I have mixed peas in this scratch and they are real quick to pick those out. It's funny to me because I hate peas. I haven't grilled anything for them. They are on the bottom of the pet list - the dogs get everything first, then the cat, then the poor little chickens, and then last of all my husband!! LOL
I have been adding peas and other things to increase the protein, but I don't know how much to add. I don't know if I am adding too much or not enough.Could you cook up some peas and mash them and mix the scratch in? That will help prevent them from picking it out.
Peas are in the 20-25% range, depending on the variety. So you can't hurt them much by mixing half scratch, half peas (by weight)I have been adding peas and other things to increase the protein, but I don't know how much to add. I don't know if I am adding too much or not enough.
