How to introduce a full grown rooster to flock of hens

I'd do it the same way as adding chicks or other hens. Put him in a pen next to them for about a week to get acquainted and then let them all out together and watch to make sure the hens aren't too mean to him. He will have to show them he's the new boss in the coop so if there's a bit of tussling around don't worry as long as nobody is getting injured.

OK glad I asked!! Cus I was thinking since it was a male I could just put them together and they'd all get along and fall in love :love:lau only in a perfect world right lol

I've never had a rooster so have no idea what to expect...this shall be interesting! lol

Just hope the rooster sees you as the head of the flock or at least not a threat. Otherwise you'll have some painful work cut out for you. I've only had chickens for two years and my rooster sense the beginning so he doesn't mind me, but the rest of my family and just about anyone else has to keep a good 15-20 away from him or they will be introduced to his hind legs.

Oh darn I was gonna ask some questions about lambs LMBO
I was wondering if I should get a little cockerel and raise em up instead of full grown...but I don't wanna wait that long hahaha besides I plan on getting straight run chicks also and will probably get some roos in there anyway...just really want a rooster now to run with my girls

If I had the option I'd wait until you get the chicks and raise them that way he'll already know how to handle most of your hens. Plus you can pick which one you want to keep.
