Is there anyway to keep weight off of birds. Our fair supposedly might have a weight limit and mine currently weigh from 6-8 lbs and they supposedly can’t weigh more than 10. Lessening food intake? I’ve been doing that but do I need to do it even more.

Are they still growing?
Personally I wouldn’t put growing birds on a diet.
Hunger can lead to fighting in a flock.

Is this weight limit for all breeds?

I would think that feeding a chicken a healthy diet, rich in protein, no treats, fresh water, and plenty of space for exercise should produce a bird of optimal weight.

They will be butchered in about 3 weeks so I’m pretty sure they are at the end of growing. Currently on 18% finisher. Nope just the meat birds and it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I’m just really wondering how much weight they normally put on within a week and a half.

Question is, how old are they? How many more days to the fair?

Get a kitchen scale and weigh the birds. Report back to us.

Do not lessen food intake , give them veggies or scraps keep them in finisher . Don’t make them fight for your fair... you will want to eat then after all

The fair starts July 31st and they will be weighed when they come in and when they show. They are currently 11 weeks. Cornish Roasters by the way not Cornish X Rocks. Most of the pullets currently weigh from 4-6 lbs but one or two gained more and are about 8-9. The cockerels are huge and floppy therefore I’m not taking them. The minimum weight is 8. I will be taking three. They get sold at the fair and I won’t be eating those. Just wanting to know how to keep the ones that are small from getting too heavy but not killing them by lessening feed and keep them from going past eight pounds. Don’t want any Disqualified Sorry I didn’t word my question right at first cause I was rather worried.
