Can someone please give me ideas on how to keep chickens cool. It is over 110 degrees in Arizona and I am becoming worried about my hens in this heat wave.

Cplatt,

It has been in the 90's give or take and I have put a fan out in front of their favorite relaxing spot and they seem to bunch up around it and sand bathe. I saw somewhere else where a mister is good too (but not sure). Good luck on cooling down your hens.

Dana,
Thank you for the idea I have a mister for my garden but my hens don't seem to like it. Whenever I put it on they run into there coop.

! Pleased you joined us! Frozen treats are great - like peas. Other ideas to beat the heat are those misters you can buy at Home Depot type places - biggest problem there is getting the birds to stand in front of it. Half of mine like it and the other half are terrified of it. I also like to wet down some dirt in their run for them to scratch down down and wallow in. Most important things are fresh cool water and breeze and SHADE! Good luck to you!

Thank you for the tips! I will definitely take them into account. I am going to wet down the coop and run today.

Make sure they have plenty of shade & water. You can put ice in their water to keep it cooler. I like to put little tubs of water (foot bath size) in the run and mine will wade through the cool water, but make sure it's shallow. I also will give them cool snacks like water melon right from the fridge. Good luck!
