My ducks are about 2 months old now and for the most part they sleep inside the house but they're outside the rest of the day. I'm always outside right next to them otherwise they go crazy because the second they don't see me they start quacking like the world is gonna end. I know they think I'm their mother and they want to be around me all the the time but I can't always be with them, and they need to start living outside on their own. I'm also building them a house so they can sleep outside too. Problem is that they cry a lot and I can't stand it because I feel terrible so I don't leave their side. I'm also worried that the neighbors might complain or think I'm hurting them. I have two ducks. Both are female and one is a Buff Orpington and the other is a Rouen. I really need some advice. Thanks!

It will just make things worse if you keep going around them... I don't think there is much that you can do. They will eventually get over it.

At the age they're at, is it okay for them to be outside on their own? I have a large fenced side-yard which is where they will stay for the most part. My dog stays there too for most of the day as well as my cat. They all get along well and I think will keep them company.
