how to keep egg box dry

Missed that!
Can you post some pictures?

A picture would be very helpful. What I understand is that the roof of the coop is slanted, but the "roof" (top) of the egg box is flat.

@BielefelderHen, as everyone seems to agree, a slanted top for the egg collection box is where you will find a permanent solution. Having said that, I am guessing that carpentry is not your thing. May I also suggest that until you can rebuild a slanted top for your nest box, that you cover the flat top of the nest box with any type of plastic starting above the hinges on the wall and allow the plastic to drap over the nest box sides. I am thinking maybe a big garbage bag would do the trick, and if you still need more area, I'd cut the bag down the sides and double the width/length. It would be a temporary solution but the plastic would shed most of the water on the flat nest box top and keep the eggs dry below. Kind of like putting a tablecloth cover over the table to prevent spills on the good wood.

That's great. Then my idea of a temporary plastic sheet over your flat top nest box should buy you enough time until you decide what you want to build as a permanent solution.

Please update the thread with some before/after pictures if you can.
