How to keep eggs fresh until hen is ready to sit

Since she has just been separated from her babies is it likely that she will go broody anytime soon

It depends. My australorp usually only does one brood a year but it varies by individual. Some birds will raise two or three broods a year. Silkies especially are notorious for finishing up a batch of chicks, laying two or three eggs, and brooding again right away.
