How to keep it nice and clean?!?!

I clean my cats metal water dishes with it because it really gets them clean and much safer than using bleach. But maybe I shouldn't be doing it. They are still alive after all these years so I am guessing it just can't sit on the metal for any length of time.

I wonder if it would be safe to clean it with ACV then wipe off any access off with a napkin to make sure that it is all adsorbed and there is none left to sit there and be harmful?

I found this and was wondering if anyone has used it and if it actually works?

There are also a number of other products on this website to help clean and sanitize a brooder and coop! Some of these are sold at our local Rural King but I was hoping someone on this website has tried them and could give me their opinion on these products?

I am going to have my chicks in my spare bedroom!

I am going to try and keep them very clean as I have asthma so I have to keep them in one room to keep the dust etc. contained.

It really isn't that bad if you keep it clean in your room and in the brooder! I dust a lot but still haven't noticed to much dust or an excess of it! Just make sure you take note of the candle/deodorizers/ sprays post and not use anything like that! My brooder is also near my bedroom window and I keep it open when its nice out and I am there to monitor the temp of the room but it lets fresh air in! I also have asthma but I have more trouble with my cat then I do with the chicks! If yours is bad I would suggest a air cleaner in the room to trap dust more. I was thinking about maybe getting one but my budget right now does not allow it!

No one has mentioned food-grade diatomaceous earth yet! There have been many threads on here about it. It's a natural product that comes from fossilized diatoms and you can use it many different ways. IT HAS TO BE FOOD GRADE and, usually, you have to buy it online as lots of places do NOT carry food grade in the store. It can be mixed with the shavings to keep smell and moisture down, it can be mixed in their food to prevent worms and internal parasites, it can be sprinkled where they take dust baths to help keep them mite free and it can be sprinkled in the run, too. In other words, it's totally awesome! I know lots of people on here who use it. As a matter of fact, there used to be someone on BYC who ate it herself and swore by it!!!

Here's one of many websites I googled: http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/defaq.html

I don't see what the ingredients are but I'm almost positive it's not the same thing. This is just to control urine smell. The "DE" helps prevent external and internal parasites through the structure of the individual diatoms. The product you listed doesn't do that. Plus, DE keeps bedding dry. It looks like the product you are looking at doesn't do that. It just eliminates odor which DE does as well as many other added benefits. (Oh, and...I don't own stock! LOL)

Warning on DE if you have problems with chick dust this will make it ten times worse as it is very dusty. Do not inhale DE it will mess with your lungs bad. Lots of people say it works but there is No scientific proof that it does. Backyard Poultry mag just had a article on this I suggest people do research before going this route.
