how to keep my goats from eating chicken feed

goats will find a way to get to the feed if they can. you can put up a cattle panel and make the chickens a small area where they have their feed.
our goats will do whatever they can to get to anything to eat. they live to eat.
the chicken feed is not good for them.

My goats would kill for chicken feed! I would say that zatsdeb is right....you have to put up some type of panel or fencing to keep them away from the chicken food. Goats are total hogs!

When I go out to do chores I have to feed them 1st cause they bawl their eyes out & are very noisy!

We used coral panels & then stretched horse fencing over the panels so the goats can't crawl under/though it. Was a bit of work but very much worth it. Goats can be very destructive. If you have chicken cages inwith the goats too, they will probably destroy them. Good luck!

Are you asking us how to tame the winds or hold back the tide? You might have a better chance of succeeding with those than keeping a goat out of a feed bucket.

You're going to have to separate a feeding space for the chickens.

If you have a small goat - a little trickier.

I don't have a picture, but I hope I can explain.

If you cut a hole in the fenced area, and the goat can still fit through, you want to take a BOX made of wood, with only one side open turn so the open side is either left or right and push it half way into the cut fence opening. THe chickens will be able to walk through like a revolving door almost - but the goat won't be able to get him or herself through and turn to get out the other side.

Good luck - you must stop the goat eating the chicken food or that goat will get sick.

I don't know if it will help you but maybe it will give you some ideas. Here's what we had to do to keep my Nigerian Dwarfs out of my chicken coop and thus, out of the chicken feed...

This is the outside ...

By doing this the chickens can get in and out but the goats couldn't bend their backs to get under and then over the 2x4s.

Good luck. Your goat can get very sick if it eats to much chicken feed so get it stopped quickly.

Here's my solution for keeping baby Nigerians out of the chicken feed. We tried Chirpy's excellent idea, but the goats are still too small for it to be effective.

We are having the same problem with our mini Nubian getting into the chicken feed. We have tried a few different things. Like Chirpys idea. Might have to try that! Thanks!
