How to keep other hen’s out of broody’s nest?

I just had the same problem! Yesterday no eggs from the other 4 hens… I did put a ceramic egg in each of the other boxes… they did lay their eggs and no arguing

They can be so particular about their laying spots!

I would mark the eggs you want her to sit on take away any other eggs the come into the nest. (A hen looks cute sitting on 40 eggs, but they will not all hatch, and make for a giant mess.)

That worked!!! She has been sitting on fertile eggs for last 2 weeks.., my neighbor gave me 2 of hers… one had pipped today.., what do I need to do when they hatch? Food, water, will they be ok with other hens in run?

Most of the time other hens ignore chicks. The mom will probably have a few tussels with the other hens,. I just let them work it out.

Yall must have nice hens...mine was so fierce I abandoned the idea of moving her to mark her eggs. Other hens won't stop laying in her nest so I had to make a temporary pen around her within the chicken coop.
