how to kill coryza bacteria in run/pen

Yes, but there's some talk that it's inactivated when in contact with actual dirt so while you can use it, it won't work.

Again here's a reference from a very highly respected source, poultry specific, stating that bleach will NOT work on dirt:

: Hypochlorites. Chlorine compounds are good disinfectants on clean surfaces, but are quickly inactivated by dirt. Chlorine is effective against bacteria and many viruses. These compounds are also much more active in warm water than in cold water. Chlorine solutions can be somewhat irritating to skin and corrosive to metal. They are relatively inexpensive. Examples: Clorox, Chloramine-T, and Halazone.

It will give you basics on how to effectively disinfect.

You're very welcome! I learned that little fact years ago when I was treating a parrot illness, and it was very important to me (as it will be to people here) so why keep it to myself?

Petrol on the ground and burned it? That ground is now contaminated. Never let any of your chickens or other animals for that matter graze on it if it comes back. It is very polluted.

Cocci is in the air, water and soil. It's a bacteria that is harmless until it infects a 'body' that has been introduced to the bacteria too quickly to build up an immunity or the 'body' is not healthy. Nothing will get rid of the cocci in the soil.

Similar is staph. All people have staph in their systems. Usually nasal but it doesn't cause a problem unless that persons immune system is compromised or comes into contact with a larger source of staph like in a hospital or nursing home etc.

Do what you wish but keeping a clean coop and run and healthy chickens is the best way to keep them from getting sick from just about anything. Sunshine is the best 'cleaner' there is.

Many thanks to everyone. I have now laid sand along the run with the agriculture lime underneath. I also have thrown hay on top. My other chickens are healthy so far. I have given the mash and they loved it. Especially with the apple on it. Interesting about the bleach I will remember that. When I look back now I shouldnt of burnt the ground but I was scared I may infect the other chickens and just thought burning it will kill it. If I never bought a chick from anyone this problem would never have occured. Nevr again will I be this silly. Thanks again

Also another thought is thus Besure and use agriculture Lime from a Lowes store or a lumber yard
and sprinkle this on the bare floor of the coop after cleaning it and then add the dry clean litter. And also sprinkle it
heavily over all the pen soil so as the chickens will scratch it into the infected soil. Killing germs is a tough job in a
chicken pen and coop. The agriculture Lime is safe for the chickens. It is a natural disinfectant.
