How to know if chickens are too hot or too cold?

Yes! I have a fairly large brooder so there are plenty of spaces that the chicks can go to get away from the heat, do you think it would be enough to just lower one end of the heat lamp? I’m sure I’m overthinking it all but that has been me the past week preparing for these little girls just stressing about everything.

I can’t answer about heat lamps. They scare me too much for me to use them. Chicks grow fast and as with all kids can get feisty and rambunctious. I read about them knocking things into lamps or knocking lamps down so often and resulting in fire. Hello all! I am a first time chick mom on day three with my 13 chicks and am noticing that one chick, the smallest one, is not settling as well as the others. She is constantly standing even when she’s trying to sleep and chirping much more than the others. I believe she is cold as she is not as tall or close to the heater as the other chicks and that’s why she is constantly standing to be closer to the heat source. How can I warm her up without making the other chicks too warm?? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Question. The breeder we got out chickens said from 5 weeks they no longer need a heat lamp.
Due to I got 3 day old chicks and to save money I have put it with the 3 day old chicks

But my 5 week old chicks are all cuddled up (they always do this though because they are family) and constantly chipping they aren't anymore after 1 minute of constant chipping. I can't get them a heat lamp as it's already night but should I buy another one. It's about 22 degrees in my house.
