We did something similar with hamsters a few years ago, and I think DH hid the cute stuff so I couldn't do it with the chickens. The hamsters were actually pretty cooperative, and even our cat sat in on a few shots just for fun.

I really REALLY want to do this with chickens but everyone keeps laughing at me

Isn't the digital age wonderful? You can take 100 pictures for the 2 that are actually really good....
