How To Pick Up A Duck? Video Anyone?

You "hold" him by letting him dock on your finger?

I know you are holding him by his wings, but it looks like he flew into and latched on to the docking station! The shadow coming off his throat looks like the lower bill coming up to hang on to your fingers!!

Lol, that's not my picture! It's the only one I could find on the internet of how I hold our bantams. Since I'm the one with the camera, there aren't any pictures of me and our ducks, and I'm the only one who handles them.

HAHA! I was thinking the same thing. Looks like something out of Star Trek. The new bantam duck class fighters: Small agile vessels that disarms the enemies with cute antics!

There was a lady that I bought some muscovies from recently. I was grabbing them over the wings and holding them like a football backwards. And holding their feet in my left hand.

She grabbed them like chickens. Got hold of their feet and then turned them upside down!

I had no idea you could do that!

I just couldn't do it but it made me laugh at the mental image!

My arms already look like someone was playing tic tac toe with a knife, I can't go thru too many more trials by fire!

Use a dremmel (rotary tool) or pedipaws (same thing but meant for pets) to dull the tips of their nails. The pedipaws is battery operated so I'd go that route if you don't already own a dremmel. They'll still be able to scratch you once in a while but they'll draw blood far less often... I've been holding out on trimming Moxy and Norie's nails since they are only a couple months old. I can't wait to get that done - I'm getting tired of explaining to people that I'm not some weirdo that cuts himself.

Of course you'll need to be able to hold them still for the procedure....

We can't even hold out dogs still well enough to do that, no way am I trying that with Quacky Kruger!

In that case, you should invest in a pair of gauntlets. I'm sure you can find a nice steel plated pair at a renaissance fair.
