How to prevent pests from tunneling into coop

Thanks for all the ideas. Electric is not practical, but I like the idea of concrete pavers. I'd probably still bury them vertically - the position of the run doesn't allow for a lot of paving or wire on the ground next to it.
So 12" down should be fine? If I'm reading right what you're saying is that the animal digs a little, hits the barrier and stops - they don't just keep going down further? Don't have to worry about foxes (and if I get coyotes I've got bigger problems!). Don't know about our dogs - we'll have to wait and see. They're greyhounds, not terriers, so I don't know how determined they'll be at tunneling, but I suspect they'll get discouraged easily if there's a barrier.

I am loving the paver idea around the coop!

We have tried electric fencing but it doesn't always work.

For the past few nights, I have put my German Shephard in a crate next to the coop...AND STILL SOMETHING HAS GOT IN! Ugh.

I am going to Home Depot in the morning- thanks for the idea!

Pavers are great--mine are just placed flat and butted up against the bottom frame of the coop so there is no space there for paws to dig or pry them out. I think burying them vertically would be a lot of extra work. I did scoop out the soil and they are flush with the top of the ground. You can see the pic on mypage.
