I am trying to figure out the sex of my two 6 week old ducks. I think the Black Cayuga (Jemima) is a female-she sounds more like a quack and the Peking (Smiley) is a male-he sounds more low hissy. What do you think? Thanks for the help.

PS I have been on here reading for A LONG TIME, but finally joined and posted:)

I believe you are right, I can't really tell which one is making which noise but you do have one female and one male,

I think you are correct as well. It looks like the Cayuga is the one making the female noises. Pick her up and take a few steps away and see if she doesn't honk your ears off, lol. For the longest time my girls would only make loud quacks if they were separated from each other (and most of the time it wasn't me doing it, they had accidentally separated themselves...goofballs).
I held out hope for a while that the third baby was also a girl and just taking a while to start quacking because all I ever heard was peeping like your other one...nope, he's a boy. So I think you've got that part right too.

Yes! the black cayuga does sound like a girl, and I love her feathered head! But the boy, looks more like a fawn and white runner (despite his bad stance), then a Pekin.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I was just starting to think that my "Peking" duck may not be a Peking duck after all as DucksnDaffodils mentioned. He has been getting a little more brownish rather than pure white. I just looked at pictures of the Fawn and White Runner Ducks and I think that is what he is. Thank you!

I would not add 1 female to 2 drakes they will fight and mate her to death, your choice of getting each male 3-4 ducks each or finding a good home for one of the drakes, still would get another couple of ducks though for your drake you decide to keep.

Each male 3-4 ducks? wow! haha! man's dream! would it be ok to just keep the two drakes and not add any? will they fight each other without a female around?

Naw as long as there aren't any females they should be fine, oh you might see the occasional mounting of one on the other but quite a few folks keep only drakes and it works out,.
