How to Racoon + Rat + Snake proof run?

i went with 16 gauge HWC, I get it in 100ft rolls that are 4' wide for about $250. I go down into the ground about 2' at a 45 degree angle away from the coop. it's important to make the eves deep enough so rain water doesn't just go straight down onto the HWC or it will rust out a lot faster, say 2-5 years (the part underground). I have considered coating it with something like roofing tar or adding a plastic barrier to keep water away from the HWC.

I have only found 16 g in the 1" hardware cloth. If you have a source for the 1/2" in 16 gauge, please share. A 1" spacing is a welcome sign for snakes and rodents.

I just want to add to the suggestions here.... Try to get some tension into the hardware cloth... stretched tight screwed on with screws and washers and the predators will have a difficult time getting a bite into it...

Also if you are able to Stretching hot wire will help with the four legged.... Dogs cats Coyotes....and Raccoons....

I dont worry about snakes and I have biguns

Yes!
Very important that it be as taut and flat as possible.

Unless you're willing to cover the roof of the run, nothing will keep out snakes. They can climb just about anything.
