! We were having trouble with the hatch (only one hatched. All the others died before the hatch.) Now we have three poults. We have two bins with broiler chicks in them. We have the poults in one of the bins.

On this thread I would like to be given information on how to raise turkeys. First tell me If there are any reqiurments for the poults.

You might want to be more specific with what you want to know. Off the top of my head I can telltale you they should be given 28% protein gamebird starter. And a lot of people keep them off the ground for first 8 weeks or so. I'll keep thinking.

First thing Turkeys are hard to keep alive. I tried some this year. I bought 15 and within 4 days 4 of them died... a few days later I lost one more. Now since then it's been smooth sailing. I think the mistake I made was I didn't realize the temp for the turkeys needed to be 5 degrees higher than the chickens. So make sure you're in the mid to high 90s for the first week and then start dropping the temp back slowly. 2nd thing is it's okay to put the broilers outside after 3 weeks but wait until 5 or 6 for the turkeys. After that it's a piece of cake. I haven't done anything special except feed them turkey starter for the first couple months and now they're on a broiler ration and live with my broilers just fine.
