Seriously people be very cautious out there. There are actually lobbying arms of those very same massive corporations who are fighting ANY regulation by trying to convince people that the government is out to get you. I am NOT saying you should not be wary of what the government is up to or that they could write a bill intended to apply to one group of people but have it unintentionally applied to another..... BUT, be cautious of sensationalistic language like this. You cannot discern the character of a bill through sound bites.

IMO very good point.... Look at the sabotage on the raw milk bill... Really done by large corps wanting a peice of the pie... After all they are the ones that have the ears of Washington not us!

I think what you're all missing is the fact is all farming will be corporate and the family or independent will be put out of business. Talking to a farmer yesterday and he was paying 90.00 a ton for potash. This year it is $900.00 a ton. I think this may be true because my brother-in-laws feretilizer bill tripled. They are slamming doors on every form of free enterprise they can so we can all be under the thumb of big government. Thank You, but I prefer to take care of myself.

Small farms can't compete all that easily any more. My fear is when they tighten restrictions to the people like myself that raise chickens for the eggs four ourselves. The excess get sold to offset feed prices. I fear that we won't always be under the radar.

Ya know the price of feed is getting so high that is putting most farms out of buisness also.
I buy my fowl feed by the ton and still pay 13.95 per bag.

THe whole point of the bill is to take all control of food away from the consumer, under the guise of safety.
Safety is important, however it shoud not come at the cost of real food.

We have a small family farm of 1000 acres. Our input costs have skyrocketed over the last several years while prices we recieve have been up and down. The fact is that no matter what business you are in there are rules and regulations....some good and some bad. You can either learn to deal with them and continue in business or get out.

I will say this - the government is royally screwing over the American population, and has been for the past 150 years or more. This bill is just the latest. They will bend and twist anything, no matter how well intentioned, and the wording of this bill gives them tremendous leeway. The last thing the Establishment wants is the independent spirit fostered by small farms and backyard gardens.

It's time we taught the politicians a painful lesson. This bill is not permitted in the Constitution, so kill it! Tear it up and burn it, then tar and feather the politicians who support it! Whatever else may be said, this thing is unconstitutional, and it needs to DIE.
