How to set this trap?

Our shelter is terrible. We found another stray cat two years ago and tried taking her there, and she bit the worker while they were trying to reach in and pull her out of the crate so they said they were taking her back and putting her down. We immediately walked out the door with her and…View attachment 3971379
Here she is on a trip to DC.

I did get Franc
Oh, that's sad. Just because a stray cat bites you doesn't mean it's a bad cat, all it means is you handled it wrong. A scared cat will bite in self defense if it thinks you're going to hurt it. A shelter should know that! I'm glad you kept her.

It might be best to try other shelters (especially any no-kill shelters), and if you can't find any that's accepting cats, then go to one of those programs that'll fix the cat for you. You could also put an ad out and see if anyone will want to work with it to tame it.

Looks like a young tom cat in the face. Also looks like maybe it's a polydactyl but hard to tell in the picture. Pretty cat.
If you are taking it in for a feral program most require them to be in the trap. Around here most vets require that as well. Be sure to ask when you make an apt so there's no surprises.
Glad you got it caught and hopefully you can find it a new home soon.

Interesting! I thought the face wasn’t much different from the black cat’s, who’s definitely female. What’s the difference between a male and female cat face?

I did think her paws looked funny, I’ll have to try to take a closer look! (S)he’s super skittish though.

They usually are a bit more rounded and "thick" in the face. Hard to tell in that picture because the markings are a bit deceptive on where the face vs the neck etc is. Also that young it's harder to tell as testosterone isn't usually super strong yet. I'm assuming you haven't noticed any marking anywhere?
Would be pretty cool if you got yourself a polydactyl. I have trapped a lot of cat and kittens and never have I caught one.
