How to sex geese (?)

Watch their behavior closely. If one of them comes between you and the other, then you know its a male protecting his hen.

I was at a breeder's home a few weeks back and he told me how he tells--I don't know if this is really true, but it seemed to be for his birds and for mine when I got home and looked at my (adult) birds. Around the vent female feathering tends to depress, kind of like it's making way for the male bits. And the males vent tends to poke out. It's like nature is trying to make the gander's job easier to get in to mate.

Remember, this could be wrong sometimes, but the guy who told me had raised geese for years and found it true for his birds.

how do you sex geese? I have two that are what i consider big... LOL. I got them when they were 6 months old. They are the buff saddleback pomeranians. They havent laid yet (i believe geese laying season is over??)
