I am not using deep shavings, only about 2 in. Is there an easy way to sift poop out?

x2If you're a clean freak, you might consider using sand in the coop......
...or spending a lot of moeny changing out shavings every other day or how ever often your sensibilities find it necessary.
......or at least use a poop board with sand/PDZ under the roosts.
...or maybe not have chickens at all because they create a lot of poop and a lot of dust.
Deep litter method works well for us.![]()
The coop and the birds smell fresh. Change it out twice per year with a disinfectant scrub down.
I am a clean freak in my home but when it comes to my coop--- poop wins.
It's inevitable.
Deep litter works very well in the run too...better IMO...and it doesn't need to be that deep...just good mix of dried plant materials will do the trick.I haven't decided yet but I like the sand tray idea. I only have 6 poopers and as of today they have a big run, so less poop! I have learned so many things on here, thanks.
