I doubt one could get a permit for that, it's illegal, and also highly unethical and inhumane. They'll hang you if you kill someones dog with a treble hook you didn't have a permit for.

Well said! Most trappers i've asked don't give foxes a ton of credit, but coyotes they do...very smart apparently. I just ordered #2 leg traps so will be dug in by end of week around the perimeter. Sux losing pet chickens to these things.hello, trapper and hunter here.
am just going to say, don't use hooks on a fence to catch a fox, first off that is inhumane and cruel, highly illegal and gives all us trappers a bad look.
i would use a dirt hole set or either shoot said fox with calling or baiting if legal to due so. now i think (and been told by trappers who are 100 times better then me) that foxes are thought to be much smarter then they are.
i don't worry about scent control to much, think about it, if a fox can smell your bait for a mile away, then how the heck are rubber gloves and boots going to prevent your smell? just make the set better then the risk the animal feels of your smell.
Bout the best way to do it. Shoot it. And I don't like to or want to kill any living creature, but they cannot kill my flock members.Ok, the more I read this one, the better it sounds. Mr or Ms Blasted Fox is getting on my nerves, attacking either at twilight or broad daylight.
They don't mind your scent when they come in your yardhello, trapper and hunter here.

The first time we heard a fox, I used a call on YouTube and that sucker ran right past me. About 4 foot to my right. I had the phone all lit up and everything. It never saw me.Youtube has some video's on how to use calls to lure a fox or coyote. I'm happy to hear your chickens are safe. Here is a link to a call sold on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Quaker-Boy-Screamin-Cottontail-Predator/dp/B001RMWMY2/ref=sr_1_34?crid=12TXX25NOGIDI&keywords=fox+call&qid=1650491027&rnid=2941120011&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=fox+call,aps,168&sr=1-34
Agreed. We are very protective of our flocks, and a threat is taken care of as soon as possible. The only predator I have never shot at is a bird of prey, and we do have them. Like you, I don’t want to kill anything - though sometimes (in the case of the foxes) it’s the only workable solution.Bout the best way to do it. Shoot it.
