my slate poult is starting to show signs of aggression towards me and I want to stop it quickly. For the past few days he keeps attacking my fingers and I'm trying to show him that I'm the boss but I also don't want him to take that as aggression from me, any suggestions? this is my first time raising turkeys, I only have two of them. Even though he pecks my fingers like crazy he is a very sweet baby, this is the only problem we have had.

It's going to get worse. Sounds like you human imprinted it. It thinks you are a turkey. It cannot understand that there is any difference between you and it.

The only thing I know of that might work is to put it with more turkeys and leave it alone.

he is only 8 weeks old so maybe some separation can break it?😢 it will be hard since he follows me around but I dont want this getting worse. Thanks for responding

If you leave him alone and he continues to show aggression, he may need to be culled.
Aggressive males can inflict serious wounds and even kill your other animals.
It may not just be you he is aggressive towards.

I havent seen him be aggressive with our chicks at all and they are in the same run together most of the day. But today he did chase one of our full grown hens away from the chicks like he was protecting them he didnt try to hurt her though. I will separate the turkeys from the chicks to try and stop any further aggression.

The first 4 heritage jakes I got were human and chicken imprinted. The dominate one started attacking me at 6 months. Ended up getting invited to dinner
Then the next one that was dominated and the next . I ended up starting over the next year.

If he sees me like a turkey then I'm going to try to be the most dominant one hopefully it works I really want to keep them
